Dr. Connie is back again! In this video Dr. Connie shares tips and advice about what you can do to make sure that you age gracefully through the years.

I'm Dr. Connie Mariano, Chief Clinical Officer with EmpowHER, with what you can do about healthy aging.

A healthy life is an active life, that is at the center of a new study by CDC on healthy aging.

To ensure a high quality of life for older adults, the CDC is recommending four types of exercise including strength, balance, endurance, and flexibility training.

We're talking about simple exercises like light weight training, jogging, walking, swimming, and stretching.

The reason why? Exercises like these can alleviate symptoms from arthritis, reduce blood glucose levels, and improve strength and balance, which prevents falls.

Another focus of the study-the importance of oral health, and how caring for your teeth and gums plays a major role in healthy aging.

Along with oral health, the CDC identifies six other areas we need to improve including diet, obesity, flu, and pneumonia vaccination, physical activity, and hip fractures.

The good news-with a little effort, we can make these changes ourselves.
