Amy Winehouse, the talented British singer who had battled drug and alcohol addiction, eating disorders and was known for her disastrous relationships, was found dead in her home Saturday, her publicist confirmed. She was 27.
Winehouse’s death came less than 60 days after rehabilitation and a Belgrade performance where she was booed offstage by fans, CNN reports.
It was during that performance where she allegedly stumbled through numerous songs and possibly staggered across the stage.
Winehouse won five Grammys for her 2006 album “Back to Black.” Her beehive hairdo and her distinctive voice made her one of music’s most recognized stars.
Her father was quoted a few years ago saying Winehouse had developed lung disease emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack, The Associated Press reported, although her publicist said had "early signs of what could lead to emphysema."
