Dr. Christiane Northrup, always in the forefront for healing, has a recommendation for those with osteoarthritis. She pairs up omega-3 fatty acids with glucosamine as a way to reduce the pain of osteoarthritis.

According to Dr. Northrup, "The body is designed to rebuild damaged cartilage and synovial fluid. This process is similar to the normal process of breaking down and rebuilding healthy bones. However, sometimes the body isn’t able to keep up."

This is where omega-3 fatty acids and glucosamine come in, to help in the repairing and rebuilding process.

Dr. Northrup has a few other recommendations as well, suggesting the avoidance of certain foods that may cause inflammation. She advocates taking a group of antioxidants known as OPCs and warns against taking NSAID drugs.

To guard especially against arthritis of the knees, Dr. Northrup reminds us all that keeping a healthy weight is always a good idea, and much appreciated by our bones and joints.
