In Part I of this article, I discussed the various pros and cons of trimming one's own pubic hair. For the second installment of this issue, I plan to address the subject of waxing as a way to remove unwanted body hair.

I don't think there's any other to communicate my beliefs to you than to relate directly to my own experience. For this reason, I am prepared to offer you the complete and candid story of my first bikini wax. It may be too gritty and too personal a tale to tell, but the only way to forge our way through sexual health is honesty.

I chose to have my first bikini wax done at a professional salon. I was escorted back to a small room where I was instructed to remove my pants and underwear, and then wear a washcloth on my pubic region "like a diaper." I was given a towel to cover my genitals if I wished.

Once the attendant had come back to the room, I was laid out on the table like a frog about to be dissected. The thing that surprised me is that the attendant, who I will call Jill, was very friendly and pleasant. We talked through the duration of the appointment, venturing into topics such as money, relationships, and sex. It seemed that baring my vagina paved the way to intimate disclosure of taboo topics - who would have thought? It did wonders toward making me feel comfortable with the situation.

To be continued...
