Five and a half hours of receiving someone else’s blood in order to feel better - sounds kind of strange. I was told that usually people feel more energy the day after the transfusion. This is definitely not the case for me. In fact, I think I have even less energy. Part of this I’m sure is attributed to the chemo that I had earlier this week. I am starting to feel nauseous during the day with a constant feeling of being dehydrated or “dried” to the bone.

The transfusion itself wasn’t all that bad. I had my own private room with a bed that laid down. The whole process and setup was very similiar to getting chemo. The lady that was administering the transfusion was nice and helped to put my worries at ease right from the get go. Throughout the day, I had several friends scheduled to visit to help pass the time. I always feel bad for the ones that come later in the day because I’ve learned that at that point, I am usually exhaused and sleeping.

Since the transfusion, I have been doing nothing but sleeping. Wes and I did get a room at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass last night; however, I really didn’t take advantage of any of the amenities. Instead, I slept in the room all night and morning while Wes checked out the casino and hung by the pool. I was a little sad that I wasn’t able to join him, but at the same time it was really nice to have some much-needed rest and quiet time.
