Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer!

How long are your cycles, usually? Are you very regular?

Do you know that May 20 was your fertile date because you are using an ovulation test or charting your basal body temperature?

Using an online pregnancy calculator, I find that if you believe your most fertile date was May 20, your cycles are usually 26 days apart. Am I close?

If that's the case, you actually had a fertility window of about a week, counting the time that sperm can live and the time it takes an egg to travel down the fallopian tubes. Often, we best become pregnant by having sex every other day during our fertile period, keeping some sperm active in our systems at all time for when the egg is released.

You absolutely could be pregnant if you had unprotected sex on the 20th. If your cycles are 26, 28 or 30 days apart, your most fertile days would be (in order) the 20th, the 22nd or the 24th.

Most home pregnancy tests will be able to tell you if you are pregnant by the first day of a missed period. They measure the level of HCG, the pregnancy hormone, in your urine. Sometimes if your HCG is low it takes a little longer for it to show up, so many women wait about a week past their missed period to test.

Are you hoping to be pregnant? Have you been trying for a while? Or is it something you wish to avoid?
