Hi, Anon, and welcome to EmpowHer! Thanks so much for your question.

So do I have it clear that you actually went off your birth control in the middle of a month of pills?

Tell me if I have the order of things right here:

mid-to-late May - you had a period
May 30 - you went off the pill mid-way through birth control pills (?)
June 3-4 - you had another period
Mid-June - unprotected sex
And now you're late?

If that's all correct, I can say that it's very possible that you're late due to going off the pill, and it's very possible you're pregnant. The timing of both things works out.

Most likely, you are late because of going off the pill. When we are on the pill, it takes the place of our natural hormones telling our bodies what to do in terms of ovulation, menstruating, etc. When we go off the pill, our bodies take over again. But it can take us a few cycles to get regular again. In fact, some women who want to be pregnant are advised to go off the pill two or three months before they try, just because it may take them that long to ovulate again.

On the other hand, some women get pregnant the first month they go off the pill. And a very few get pregnant while on the pill. We are all so different when it comes to our hormones that sometimes it seems like anything is possible.

If I were you I would probably wait a few more days and take another pregnancy test. Are you hoping to be pregnant, or hoping not to be?
