Ask your doctor (endo, primary, or obgyn) to test you for insulin resistance. It's not a standard test and it took 9 years before anyone ran it on me to find out that was my problem. I kept packing on the weight despite tracking food, lowering carbs, lifting weights, and doing cardio 5 hours a week. I could gain 8-10 pounds in 4 days without changing anything and it wouldn't come off. They always checked my blood glucose and had me check it at home but it was always perfect, not even close to questionable that's why it took them so long to test for insulin resistance. Also, there are different tests with different scales. One of them says up to 24 is normal and mine was 12 something, but my doc said they like to keep it around 3. So even if your labs fall within "normal" make sure other professionals agree. It took 6 months of metformin before any weight would budge and it's like pulling teeth to lose weight, my body still doesn't care if I cut carbs, do meditation, and do HIIT workouts, it drops the weight when it feels like it. Main thing is I'm not gaining weight anymore.
