I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. An HPV scare is unnerving, I know first-hand. Your lung specialist would be the best resource in regard to not aggravating your COPD and aneurism with the laprascopy. On the other hand, I can definitely talk about the HPV surgical procedure. If it's a cone biopsy the doctor is suggesting, I have had that done. It was virtually painless. I took some OTC pain reliever before going in, and just hopped up on the table. They did a local anesthetic on my cervix. They did the procedure--it took a couple minutes. I walked out of the office after taking a few minutes to let my anxiety diminish. I went home and napped (took the day off), and had to wear a panty liner the next few days or so.
I also have had the LEEP, and cryosurgery done. They all were pretty similar from my experience. The cryo was "ickiest," because of the watery discharge afterward.

Be assured, while this is very scary, it's pretty common, so try and not stress too much about it. Keep on top of your pap smears following surgery, and hope that the HPV goes away. I've had two sons since all the cervical in-office surgeries, and didn't have any problems with an incompetent cervix or with my pregnancies at all.
If your doctor is suggesting a different type of surgery, we're happy to look up risks of that for you. Let us know.
