Hi,
A D&C is most commonly used to assess the reason for heavy bleeding or bleeding in-between periods. Can you call your doctor's office and make sure that the D&C is being used as a diagnostic tool and not as a treatment tool?

A D&C may be used to help stop heavy bleeding or bleeding in-between periods, but from my understanding, this is usually a short-term treatment. This is a great question to ask your doctor: what is the purpose of the D&C as the next step?

A procedure that is often used as a long-term treatment is called endometrial ablation, and you can read more about that here: https://www.empowher.com/media/reference/endometrial-ablation

Let us know what you find out from your doctor, and we are happy to talk with you more about your options.

Have you ruled out any hormonal imbalances as well?
