It is unlikely that you would get pregnant during the last day of your period, but anytime you have unprotected sex there is a risk of pregnancy (regardless of "when" it is during your cycle). The reason is that sperm can live up to 3 (maybe 5) days inside your vagina, near your cervix, "waiting" for an egg to be released. You could ovulate early in your cycle (some women can ovulate as early as "day 7"). This scenario is plausible, could cause a pregnancy, but is not very common.

It is a waiting game, unfortunately, anytime you have unprotected sex, as it takes a few weeks until either your period begins or you take a home pregnancy test to know if the symptoms you are experiencing are related to pregnancy, PMS or just some gastrointestinal distress. I'm sorry you have to wait and be worried, but it is a good time to think about your birth control options for next time so you don't have this extra stress weighing you down. Let us know if you would like to talk about this further!

In the meantime, I agree with Cary: if your symptoms have been occurring for a few weeks and you are concerned, it is always best to call your doctor.

We wish you the best, and please let us know when your period begins!
