Missing 2 pills in-a-row can cause "withdrawal bleeding", so unless you were expecting your "period" to begin (it would begin during the 7 days of inactive or "sugar" pills), then what you experienced was not a period.
It sounds like you made up the missed pills, but you need to make sure you use them as directed (make up one missed pill per day). For example:
Monday: missed pill
Tuesday: missed pill
Wednesday: take Wed. pill and Monday's pill
Thursday: take Thur. pill and Tuesday's pill
Your pill is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken as directed. Anytime you miss pills, the effectiveness rate is decreased, and there is an increased risk of pregnancy.
