Vitamins are not a good substitute from getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs from actual food. A multi-vitamin is a good choice, but since you are newly vegetarian and are not sure if you are getting adequate vitamins and minerals in your diet...have you considered speaking with a Registered Dietitian, or reviewing books regarding the vegetarian diet to make sure you are gaining all the macronutrients and micronutrients you need?

If you are uninterested in speaking with an R.D. or reading some books, I can provide some helpful websites, if you are interested...please let me know! Your question is not an easy one to answer without knowing exactly what you are (and are not) eating...can you be more specific with what type of vegetarianism lifestyle/diet you have chosen?
