I'm 48 and have had moderate to severe breast pain for the past 6 years. For the past 2 years I have been bedridden, unable to work and have severe breast pain for the majority of every day. I'm taking Neurontin for leg pain, swelling and stiffness that started 8 years ago but it doesn't help with the breast pain. Ibuprofen used to help but for the last few years that doesn't help. I have seen several doctors but they have no idea what is causing the pain. The doctors usually don't even exam my breast even though I come to them mainly complaining of breast pain. I have very large breasts and the doctors seem to be "afraid" of them.

I'm having swelling in my breast along with burning pains, sharp stabbing pains and constant throbbing pain. I also have sharp stabbing pains in both underarms for the past two years. The swelling in my breast is similar to the swelling in my ankles, legs and thighs. Basically my entire body is swollen. I drink 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of water a day and urinate 15-20 times a day so I shouldn't be retaining water but for some reason I am. My breasts are so swollen that they have become extremely heavy. I think I might be in perimenopause since I haven't had a period for 4 months (and I have always been regular). The severe pain that I experience and the sensitivity in my breasts mean that I usually can't wear a bra or any clothing above the waist so I can rarely leave my home. I am so fatigued and exhausted every day that I can barely walk back and forth to the bathroom all the times that I have to go everyday. I make it to the kitchen at least once a day to eat whatever I can in 5-10 minutes before I'm so exhausted that I have to return to bed. A lot of the fatigue is probably from the Neurontin but when I have tried to stop taking it the leg pain and stiffness gets so bad that I can't walk.

Is anyone familiar with the combination of symptoms that I'm having and what the cause might be? I would appreciate some help and advice from any of the Experts. Do you know of anything that could cause the type of breast pain that I have described or what I can do to releave this pain?
