It is a good idea to start out slowly when you are beginning an exercise program. Taking a 15 minute brisk walk at least 3 or 4 days a week is a good start. Do you have a dog? If so, walking your dog each day is a form of exercise.

Dancing for 15 minutes to your favorite music is another form of exercise. Find an  activity that you like and have fun while you are doing it. That way exercise is fun and not a chore.

If your parents are hooked on soda, try mixing 100% juice with selzer water. If they like chips, try sweet potatoe chips or vegetable chips and choose baked chips instead of fried. It will take time to convert your family to healthy eating habits, but the reward will be better health for all.
