Even though, many times, in the beginning your period can start irregular and then regulate itself within the first three months this isn't always the case. During your teen years, it is "normal" to have irregular periods, throughout the years and by the time you reach adulthood your periods will regulate themselves-- but be aware that this can take months and years.
