Welcome to EmpowHER.  Some people who have type 2 diabetes can manage their blood sugar with diet and exercise alone, but many need diabetes medications or insulin therapy.  Some of the exercise that can help such as walking, swimming or biking. Also, healthy eating - Counting carbohydrates in your food is another thing you'll need to incorporate into meal planning. You'll need plenty of fruits, vegetables and  whole grains.  If you need medications, you should discuss with your doctor or get a second opinion from another doctor.
