Hello Christi,
I am assuming that you are scheduled for a bilateral prophylactic mastectomy. This type of surgery involves removing as much of the "at-risk" tissue as possible in order to reduce the chance of developing cancer.

I found this website for you. Prophylactic Mastectomy, Hilton Becker, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.R.C.S. http://prophylacticmastectomy.com/BeforeandAfterPhotos/SkinSparingProphy...

I understand that you are not getting what your surgeon is telling you. But, please try again. Your surgeon knows what he plans to do. Ask as many questions as you need to. You owe it to yourself to fully understand what will be done during the surgery before you consent to having the procedure done. You will be asked to sign an informed consent. If you do not understand what will be done. you cannot legally sign that consent form.Take it for someone who has had three surgeries for head and neck cancer and four reconstructive surgeries because of cancer damage.
