Hello Prokriti,

Hemodialysis, which cleans and filters your blood using a machine to temporarily rid your body of harmful wastes, extra salt and extra water, is a treatment option for patients with kidney failure. Diet, medications and fluid limits are often needed ed as well.

Peritoneal dialysis is another treatment option to remove wastes, chemicals and extra water from your body. It uses the peritoneal membrane in your abdomen to filter your blood.

Dialysis helps replace the work that your kidneys do, but, is not a cure for kidney failure.

Kidney transplantation surgically places a healthy donor kidney to replace the damaged kidneys. The donated kidney does enough of the work that the two failed kidneys used to do to keep the person healthy and symptom free.

I hope this answers your questions.
