Hi Tabatha R Helbert,

Thanks for sharing your question with EmpowHER! I'm sorry to hear about your bone cancer diagnosis. That is a difficult disease for anyone to go through. There are many resources on EmpowHER I'd like to share with you that I think can be helpful while going through bone cancer.

Has your doctor told you there is no treatment for your bone cancer? Or are you unable to receive the treatment due to insurance? There are several options available for bone cancer treatment including chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy. Based on your type of bone cancer, a doctor can help determine what the best kind of treatment options would be.

Bone cancer can be very painful at times. If your pain is more mild, over-the-counter medications like ibuprofen or Tylenol can help reduce the pain. If your pain is very severe, you can talk to your doctor about prescribed pain killers and medications for help. It is very important to discuss your pain with a doctor. They will help provide ways to improve the pain for you.

Some alternative ways you can help ease pain and symptoms of bone cancer include taking calcium and omega-3 supplements to help reduce the deterioration of bones. Acupuncture is another alternative therapy that can help with cancer symptoms.

However, alternative therapies should not replace the advice of a real doctor. It is important to keep up with doctor visits and to continue the conversation with your doctor about bone cancer.

Here is a personal story on EmpowHER from a bone cancer survivor that can help show what another individual did during their bone cancer journey: https://www.empowher.com/bone-cancer/content/paige-armstrong-shares-her-bone-cancer-journey.

I hope this has helped! Please keep me updated on your bone cancer and let me know if you have further questions.

Best,
Erin
