I think it would be okay, but it depends on what type of relationship you have with your doctor. If you have the typical patient/doctor relationship, then it might be slightly odd that you are sharing information regarding the thyroid and you aren't currently experiencing any thyroid concerns.
Doctors have access to the latest medical information in forms of subscriptions, etc. so it might be something that he/she has knowledge of especially if it affects their particular area of concentration.
I think it would be okay, but I would lower any expecations on getting a response. Again, if your relationship with your doctor is closer than the average patient, then you will instinctively know what's best.
