Hello and thank you for choosing EmpowHer,
Tubal ligations should not effect your normal menstrual cycle, because the same amount of hormones are still produced before and after surgery. So, heavier periods are most likely not related to the surgery.
There are several different ways to do a tubal ligation surgery. Sometimes the tubes a stapled. Other times, they are completely severed. Other times the tubes are damaged to create a blockage of scar tissue. The last procedure does allow for some possibility of pregnancy if the tube is not fully sealed.
In conclusion, if you do want to try to have a baby, you need to be certain your fallopian tubes are in working order. If they are not able to support natural pregnancy, you are in danger of getting an ectopic pregnancy. This is when the egg implants within the tubes. It is very dangerous.
So I suggest getting your fallopian tubes checked before attempting getting pregnant.
