The reason these medications are not to be taken together because Paxil may lessen the effect of Tamoxifen.
There are other anti-depressants that do not cause this interaction. Unless you cannot take anything other than Paxil, I'm not sure why you doctor would make this decision.
Please revisit with your doctor to discuss this decision and get detailed information about the benefits of Paxil versus the risks of stopping Tamoxifen. He must have his reasons but we can't tell you what they are.
