Thank you DMarie for being frank about the level of pain. I had ankle fusion in May 2008 and pain was unbearable. I was in cast for a good
three months. From the time I woke up in recovery until cast came off
I was in terrible pain. Finally got some relief after cast removed.
One of the nurses who treated me at the hospital said most patients
for this type of surgery are not prepared by their Dr. for the intense
level of pain they will have. It is now December and my ankle is not
even close to being fully fused so surgeon said yesterday we are
looking at possible re-do. I can't imagine having this surgery again
but guess may have too. Thanks everyone on this site for posting.
