Hi i am married since a month and i am taking Meliane tablets which r contraceptive pills. I took them for 21 days and then in order to take a break for 7 days, i am on it. Its 3rd day since this break. I didnt have any periods yet. Whats d issue? Plus i want to know do these pills affect health? How long they need to be taken and are safe to use? Can we have intercourse during those 7 days break as well?
Do they affect periods or will they affect pregnancy decision in future??

I have lack of knowlegde regarding this matter. I want to have pregnancy but after 4-5 months. Please guide in details.
Thankyou.

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

There is some risk of stroke or cancer with birth control pills but the risk is extremely low, so low that most women can take it very safely and it's very effective. Women under 40 have the least risk. Your pills come with an information packet, I strongly suggest you read through it.

You are protected during the 7 days you don't take the pill, you don't have to use anything. Your period will arrive anytime during that 7 days - it can be different every month and some women end up not getting periods at all, the longer they take it. They will not affect fertility.

Again, please look up the Meliane website or read the paperwork that comes with your pills to know more.
Best,
Susan
