So I've been using the patch form of birth control for a few years now, and forgetful me, I've changed the patch late quite a few times. I recently changed patches 2 or 3 days late and have been experiencing some new things. Soon after realizing I forgot to change, I got oddly spotty bleeding: very light and some days barely anything at all, but this has gone on for about 2 weeks. I reached the week where I am patch-less and would usually have my period. It never came, actually the spotty light bleeding seems to have stopped. I should be putting on a new patch today but I'm starting to worry. In the last week or so I've also been experiencing crazy heartburn, which I've never dealt with before. It's actually been waking me up at night.
So, after all that, am I paranoid or should I just cave and buy a test??

Hello Anonymous,
I do not think you are paranoid, but rather are concerned and rightfully so.
I suggest you take a urine pregnancy before putting on a new patch. Use another type of birth control, such as a condom, if you have sexual intercourse before taking a test.
Anonymous, it might not be a bad idea to give your gynecologist' s office a call and share your concerns. Better safe than sorry.
