I found a website about Amberen and this all natural product was highly recommended by several people; most of them RN's. Is this product safe to take? Have you ever heard of the product? is it just for women who are in menopause or can someone my age (41) experiencing very minor symptons (weight gain and breast tenderness) take this product?

I bought Amberen over 5 months ago. I bought the 90 day supply. I stopped taking it nearing 30 days because I had hip surgery and felt it was best not to take it while I was recovering due a blood thinner I had to take for 21 days following my surgery. I found that the night sweats and hot flashes disappeared but recently in the last three weeks they have returned. I have decided to take it again but this time take the whole 90 day supply. I lwill et you how it progresses. thank you.

I am almost 48, and had my last period when I turned 45. I have been going nuts with hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, memory probs, weight gain, and just general "malaise.". I have been very stressed with work, we own our own company, and I passed alot of the anxiety, fatigue, etc. off on that. I heard a radio commercial for Amberen one week ago, and decided to order it on the spot. I have been taking it for four days now, and boy what a difference!!! I am sleeping much better, and my "mood" is brighter! I am not an Amberen rep, I am just a customer. I can honestly say that with 4 days of normal (one white one orange pill a day) I feel so much better!!! I can even use my covers on my bed now! I know each of us women are different, but I recommend this product very highly.

I have just learned about this and am considering ordering it. It sounds too good to be true! I definitely am staying away from HRT.

Thank you for your question. I obtained this information off of their website to find the active ingredients in their product.

Amberen is a proprietary compound containing amino acids (mostly succinates), minerals and vitamins. All Amberen ingredients are 100% natural and safe. Succinates used in Amberen are distinctly different from other succinates that are used in the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industry. Their unusually high biological activity is determined by three types of active conformers. Molecules with the same structural formula can have different chemical conformations, or conformers, due to atoms rotating about a bond. Conformers determine stabilized energetic value of any substance. The task of synthesizing active conformers of succinates was first achieved in 1998, at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics.

Since the ingredients in the product are all natural, there is no clear confirmation of long term effects from using the product as natural products are not monitored and/or evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

I hope this helps answer your question.

After reading these posts, I now have a name for the strange phenomena I've been experiencing in my feet at night. Buzzing explains it. I've always expressed it as fat and hot feet. I am 49 and still have a regular period which is now clotty and shorter in length. I use to be every 28 days on the dot, but now fluctuates between 25 and 30 days between. I don't have many hot flashes but experience night sweats at the beginning of menses. I'm hoping the Amberen will calm my mood swings, I have rages 7-10 days before menses. I also tend to hibernate for 8 weeks these last 4 winters. I ordered 3 bottles today and will write in 6 weeks to update my progress.

Amberen sounds like it has been very helpful for a lot of people. My concern is that there seem to be no studies of long-term affects. The dangers of HRT were unknown until long-term studies were done. Although the ingredients in Amberen are natural, it is purported to raise estrogen levels. Isn't it true that increased estrogen can possibly contribute to breast cancer? Does anyone have any information regarding long-term usage?

Hello drummer2! Hope you are doing well. Even though your menstrual cycle has ceased, Amberen still revitalizes the sensitivity of the hypothalamus and restores communication signals from tissues and organs, relieving one from many of the chronic menopausal symptoms. Once the body is able to produce its own hormones, naturally, like the way it did prior to menopause, many women experience a natural increase in energy, improved moods, less irritability, normalized sleep cycles, increased levels of sex hormones, improved libido and less vaginal dryness and itchiness.

Yes, Alison is correct. In clinical trials, Amberen was able to restore menstrual cycles and return the endometrium to its normal thickness in women who were experiencing irregular periods and not considered fully menopausal. But, that doesn’t mean it is not beneficial to those women who are past perimenopause and menopause. All of the symptoms you are still suffering from in your postmenopausal state – low libido, dryness and itchiness - are all caused by the decrease in your hormone levels, all of which can be balanced with Amberen. I hope this helps! Good luck and hang in there!
