Hi again MedTech,
Well, you cannot force anyone to do something they don't want to do. If he choses not to be medicated to deter his Bi-Polar disorder and you understand this portion of your relationship, you must understand the outcome. The good news is, it appears that he is taking care of the issue (in his way) and not cheating or bothering you as it would appear he understands that his sex drive is extremely high. As I mentioned earlier, Bi-Polar and addictions are very common.
I think in reality, it is up to you to either understand or move on and find someone else. You certainly have complete control of your own happiness. Sit down and think about what you really want out of a relationship.
I hope this helps....wishing you the best.

Hi Med Tech,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. Addictions are usually associated with individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Sexual addictions are pretty common. Is your friend seeking therapy? Is he/she on any medications? Does your friend think there is a problem?
Thank you for any additional information that you can provide so we may better assist you.

He is going on his second year of sobriety. He was a bad alcholic and drug addict so he has a very addictive personality.
September 3, 2011 - 8:38amHe takes no meds. He used to but ever since he got sober he stopped taking them because he didn't want to put any drugs in his body which I think is understandable.
I talked to him about and he thinks that as long as he goes in the bathroom it shouldnt be a big deal but he says he feels less than when he goes in the bathroom and he says he does it so he will not try and have sex with me when he knows I am not in the mood.
This is a daily thing though and he told me he has to get off before he goes to sleep.
We have such an awsome realtionship and I hate to end things because of this but he just doesn't think he has a problem so is very reluctant to change.
