Can a mechanical mitral valve become louder 12 weeks post op?

I had a mechanical mitral valve along with an extensize maze procedure in November 2011. Approximately 8 weeks later I woke up in the early am (3:30 am) and my check was in pain and my heart was beating rapidly. I have an ecg and it was normal the next day. At post op 12 weeks the vavle has gotten much louder, distractinly so....My docs say I will get use to it. Better to do nothing. It is very difficult to concentrate on my work and sleep even with a sleeping medication (ambien) is just not happening. If you have any suggestions, I am all ears!!

Unfortunately, the clicking sound of mechanical heart valves are loud. There is nothing much that can be done about the noise.
