I had colon cancer and a colon resection over a year ago and have felt dreadful ever since. My doctor has been wonderful but has now decided that she needs to refer me to someone else for a second opinion. I have had a pulmonary embolism, pleural effusion and bilateral pneumonia and have blacked out while driving with a blood pressure of 210/176 since then. I have severe hot and cold and night sweats, fatigue, muscle and joint pain/stiffness, headaches, hair loss, diarrhea and nausea, indigestion. I have never had a fever during or since my surgery and my temperature goes between 94 and 97 degrees. HELP!!

The symptoms of pernicious anemia include diarrhea or constipation, fatigue, loss of appetite, pale skin, problems concentrating, shortness of breath and swollen red tongue or bleeding gums.
Pernicious anemia results when the stomach does not make enough intrinsic factor and the intestines cannot properly absorb vitamin B12.
Your hypertension is one serious medical condition. The symptoms of hair loss, muscle and joint pain and stiffness, fatigue and night sweats may be the result of an autoimmune disorder. You may need to be evaluated by a rheumatologist.
Your symptoms of indigestion, nausea and diarrhea may need to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist.
Have you had a whole body PET scan to check for new evidence of cancer?

I had a PET Scan in January 2011 and it showed no sign of mets. I had blood tests done on December 8th and they showed:
CBC:
WBC low 3.90L
RBC low 4.14L
MCV high 93
MPV low 7.10
Manual Differential:
Segs low 30%
Bands high 21%
CMP:
AST high 60
AlkPhos high 118
BUN/Creat high 23
T. Bili low 0.2
TSH:
THS low 0.29
The rest were in normal range.
