Carol, how long did it take you to recover and how long were you on the ventilator. I've truly been standing for my best friend of 37 years. His incident happened September 15th of this year.

My husband is going through this now, he suffered cardiac arrest and now has a brain injury. We live in MD and getting the right help is so hard. They only did an eeg, no mri or CT scan. He is now I'm in a nursing home. It has been 6 weeks since his injury. How do you get someone to listen to you and get what you want. I hate to act out but no one cares. MD has few brain injury treatment centers and the ones we have he's on the waiting list. Any encouragement will help.

it is so hard to find the right care. what is his current condition? is he alert? can he move at all? insist that he get physical therapy at the nursing home--even if he is still comatose there is alot they can do, including getting him out of bed. It is so important for his recovery. Do you have any friends who can call around for resources? Is there any possibility of going beyond MD? here in NYC there are a few really acute rehab places for brain injuries and they often get patients from up and down the east coast.

You do need to act out, tell them you love your husband and you want him to live, If the hospital where he is cant help him have him transferred to another one Do your research and find a hospital that deals with his injury. God is able, Pray and ask God to help you all.

Just keep fighting eventually someone will listen. Mine is getting better everyday. I play him his favorite music and put on his favorite shows. Tell him everyday I love him. Never give up please don't. The brain needs time to heal and the best medicine is you and your love for each other.

Thank you Jesus! Just what I needed to hear. My dad too suffered brain damage as a result of an asthma attack causing cardiac arrest. The only problem is that they declared him brain dead despite the test coming back that he had brain activity. It's been 3 months now in the hospital but I'm afraid from day one they gave up on him and is getting palliative care. Where in NYC can I transfer him? My dad shows signs of his will to live however I'm afraid doctor's are disclosing what medicines are being given to him. He's been sleeping more often. I'm there everyday from 2-8 but I don't know what happens after I leave. Please advise. God Bless.

Sorry I have been gone so long been trying to get my fiance settled. Don't ever give up is what I say. I didn't and I won't I keep going and seeing him Everyday. He knows you are there and as long as you don't give up neither will he. Just keep fighting yes it's hard believe me it's been over a year now, but it's worth it. Mine know blinks to answer me and grunts it takes time. I am still fighting for answers i will never stop and I hope you don't either. Hope all is well.
