Chiggers

Three months ago I had about 100 chigger bites on both legs starting behind my knees and stopping just under my underwear line. The rash lasted 3 1/2 weeks and the itching was terrible. After about 2 weeks I became nauseous which lasted for a week. I saw my GP who said I was bit by something but it was getting better. During this time my eczema flared up and was terrible all over my body with my arms and back being the worst. Slowly my skin seems to be calming down but I have developed a rash on my stomach that does not itch but small red bumps will appear and take days to fade to a light tan color. Can this still be related to my reaction to chiggers? I am very allergic to any type of poison ivy or oak and will swell and need medicated cream to help it go down. Any information would be appreciated, I've never experienced anything like those terrible chigger bites. Thank you, Anne

Hi. This is Rita and I am an herbalist. I make a product called Chigger Block and know chiggers inside and out. Yes what you are suffering from can be from the chigger bites and having a bad allergic reaction to the number of bites you incurred. I have seen this kind of reaction before. The number of bites and your systemic reaction to them have caused not just a sensitivity but a immune response which has thrown your system out of balance. I suggest milk thistle to help cleanse your liver and probiotics to help support your immune system. It should work itself out. Homeopathic medicine can do wonders for your reaction to things so I encourage you to look into finding a homeopath that can help.

Thank you so very much! There is not a lot of information regarding bad reactions to the bites. I will start with the probiotics now since my husband has some and will go get the milk thistle tomorrow. I was starting to worry and my GP has me taking an allergy pill. Thank you again for responding it means the world to me.

Hi Anne,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  The rash on your skin can be due to the bites, if you are allergic to it.  But, it's important to see a dermatologist just to confirm what can be causing this rash around your stomach.

Best,

Daisy
