Hi Lyennel,
No--a failed abortion and an ectopic pregnancy are completely unrelated.
Causes of an ectopic pregnancy:
Most ectopic pregnancies occur because the fallopian tube is not functioning normally.
Risk Factors
A risk factor is something that increases your chance of getting a disease or condition. Risk factors include:
Previous ectopic pregnancies
History of pelvic inflammatory disease
Endometriosis
Prior surgery on your fallopian tubes or uterus
Fertility treatments
Abnormally-shaped uterus and/or fallopian tubes
Diethylstilbestrol (DES) exposure in the mother during pregnancy (a treatment no longer used)
Presence of an intrauterine device (IUD)
Pregnancy that occurs after a sterilization procedure ( tubal ligation )
Smoking
Race: non-white
Age: 35 or older
I believe Maryann has given you the references where you could find more information on ectopic pregnancies, please take the time to read through it here: https://www.empowher.com/condition/ectopic-pregnancy/definition
Best Wishes,
Rosa

Lyennel,
The smoking on our list refers to cigarettes. However, you may want to read this article that suggests Marijuana may be linked to the inability to conceive and ectopic pregnancies as well: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,206610,00.html
