I've been reading online and I just want to make sure it's not serious. 2 nights ago I gave oral sex, and today I woke up with swollen tonsils with pockets of pus. A few months ago I had tonsillitis and my doctor told me to go back to her once I was better. She said my tonsils are very large and need to be removed, I haven't had them removed yet.

Hello Anonymous,
This sounds like a case of tonsillitis. Signs and symptoms of tonsillitis include swollen tonsils, sore throat, difficulty swallowing and tender lymph nodes on the sides of the neck.
Tonsillitis is most often caused by common viruses, but bacterial infections can also be the cause.
The most common bacterium causing tonsillitis is Streptococcus pyogenes (group A streptococcus), the bacterium that causes strep throat. Other strains of strep and other bacteria also may cause tonsillitis.
Not a sign of a STI.
