My cholesterol is 225 with 10 Mgs of sandostatin. I cannot take a higher dose because I get severe muscle pain. Someone told me to try niacin.

Hi Anon,

Niacin, a B vitamin, has long been used to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or the "good," cholesterol. HDL cholesterol helps sweep up low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or the "bad," cholesterol, in your bloodstream.

Although Niacin can lower your bad cholesterol by raising your good cholesterol, please consult this with your doctor prior to taking it.

Best,

Rosa
