Does NYHA class 1 mean I have the beginning of heart failure?

I'm new to all this. Does class one mean I still have a chance to fix this? Or keep it from getting worse

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

According to the American Heart Association, Class 1 means "No limitation of physical activity. Ordinary physical activity does not cause undue fatigue, palpitation, dyspnea (shortness of breath)."

So you are virtually symptom-less and likely in the very early stages of heart disease. This means that with treatment and follow up, you may be cautious but very optimistic. Your cardiac specialist can let you know more.
Best,
Susan
