Hi. I took my birth control pills on the eight day after the first day of my period(November 20, 2011). On the sixth day (December 3, 2011) of my pill I told my fiance that we should use a condom [since I have read that it will not be effective not unless i took it for seven days without missing], but it was the we realized that the condom leaked & he came inside me. It was then I realized that on that day is my ovulation (by calendar method). I stopped taking the pill on sixth day since one of my cousin told me that I might get pregnant & pills is not good for the baby.

After few days I had light bleeding that lasted for three days which started on December 9. I was surprised because my period is always regular & I was expecting it to come on December 17. Also, it was not a normal period since it didn't fill my pad.
Lately i'm feeling weird. My sense of smell is very strong. My breast seems a little sore. I feel like I want to sleep more even if I had 8 hours of sleep. In the afternoon I'm having headaches that makes me irritable sometimes. Am I pregnant? or just because of stress? Or maybe because I stopped taking the pills? If so, when can I have my pregnancy test?

Hi Dylan L.

Even though the spotting could have been caused by the fact that you stopped taking your pills (withdrawal bleeding), if you had sex on Dec 3rd, then you can now test for pregnancy. If you are not pregnant, you can go back to taking your pills.

Best Wishes,

Rosa
