Emergency Contraceptive and Late Period

Hi,

I was having regular 29 day cycles. However, I was stupidly drunk one night and had protected sex 4 days before my expected period (May 21), and the condom slipped inside of me. I'm not sure when it slipped, but there was some cum in the condom when I took it out. (It was also my first time having sex.) Within 12 hours, I took an emergency contraceptive (Next Choice) and took the two pills at the same time as I was told to do. I started what I believe to be my period 9 days after taking the pills, and 5 days later than I expected my period (May 31). It lasted for about 6 or 7 days, the usual length of my periods.

I am now concerned that I may be pregnant because I haven't had a period yet. It is now July 10, which is about 40 days after I had a "period" following the pills. I thought because I had a period that I was in the clear, but I've done some reading and realize that isn't always the case. Is it normal to be this late on the second period after taking emergency contraceptive? I'm not sure if it's a side effect of the pill or not. Just recently I've noticed bloating, so I don't know if I'm being paranoid.

I plan on taking a pregnancy test, but I'm incredibly nervous. I have never wanted my period so badly in my life!

Can anyone offer any information or similar situations? What is the likelihood that I could be pregnant?

I had unprotected sex november 13. He ejaculated in me twice but some came out. I took an emergency contraception pill a couple hours later. Its been 11 days since the sex . i have had nausea but only a couple days no vomit, strong lower back pains that kept me up for 2 nights, my stomach was hurting at the bottom and on the left side. I am always sleepy like i never get enough of it. My mood swings jump but im kinda always like that. I have had irregular periods but in the past month they have been normal and shorter. I think i was ovulating when we had sex. Should i wait till December for a period or take a pregnancy test?

EC can cause a delay in your period by a week, and it sounds like you are having period-like symptoms....just in time for your period to begin around this time.

Thanks for the feedback! I was just about to do an HPT, but it is no longer needed. I'm happy to share that I started my period today!

Hi,
You are right: emergency contraception can cause an irregular period for a cycle or two. The best thing to do is take a home pregnancy test, but it is most likely negative, as the bleeding you experienced after taking emergency contraception was most likely a period. EC can cause some breakthrough bleeding, but this does not usually last 6-7 days. Take a test to confirm that you are not pregnant, and please let us know what the results are!

Lastly, please know that If there was "cum" inside the condom, then he did ejaculate. We can talk about this further if you would like, too!

I'm not sure if this is important or not, but I forgot to mention that the guy did not ejaculate. He pulled out so we could change the condom, but we didn't even go through with it because we noticed the condom had slipped off inside of me. However, as I mentioned in my original post, there was a little cum in the condom. It gave us both a scare, so we just stopped there.
