hi... m facing a very strange kinda problem ... m xpecting my 2nd child (little more thn 22wks pregnant @ the moment) & since last few days i m hallucinating or hving illusive perceptions @ home (though the perceptions r very harmless n of very short durations but still "noticeable" 2 me)...dnt know why???? is tht a side effect of the hormonal changes occur in my body or wht???? actually i xperienced more or less same kinda perceptions during xactly the same stage of my prior pregnancy as well tht eventually faded off after the few wks of delivering my 1st baby....

now i m worried abt it... shd i consult a therapist? or its just a temporary stage tht will be OVER sooner or later after the delivery? (lemme clarify 1 thing tht i dnt hv any kinda personal or family history of psychotic disorders yet)

I M SO CONFUSED ABT MY CONDITION! as it happend only during the mature stages of my pregnancy....i really dnt know why?????? PLZ HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you describe your symptoms more in-depth, as "illusions" and "hallucinations" are very, very different from one another. Your doctor will want to know more what you are experiencing, instead of a "self-diagnosis" of terms.

To answer your question, it is very common for women to have changes in vision during pregnancy, due to hormones, circulation and other bodily changes.

However, it is important to call your OB/GYN as soon as their office opens after the holiday break (or, go to the E.R. if your symptoms become worse or severe), as some of the symptoms you describe may also be warning signs of preeclampsia:
* double vision
* blurry vision
* sensitivity to light
* temporary loss of vision
* seeing spots or flashing lights
