I am 56 yrs. old and plan to have the ankle fusion surgery in 2 months. I don't know of anyone who has had it and would really like to talk to someone, especially around my age, that has gone through this. I need to know from someone other than a doctor what to expect, how much pain, can you walk normally now? Complications? Tips? Thanks, Tammy

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Research have shown that for most patients after having an ankle fusion surgery, they are able to walk well again. You need to calm down and discuss with your surgeon any concerns you might have about the procedure.  I hope here you will find answers and support from other members that have had this type of surgery.

Best,

Daisy
