Q:

Hello, I have had saline implants for 13 years now, with no problems what so ever. I hear they should be replaced every 10 years, is this true or could mine be just fine for another 13 years? Thank you for your time.

Hi Nana03,

It is advised that implants are changed between every 10-15 years due to wear of the saline bag and therefore the increased chance of a rupture or tear. While I highly doubt that you will find a surgeon who will tell you that you can keep these same implants for another 13 years, you may find that depending on which implant that you have, you may actually be good for another 5 years--give or take. The determination of whether you need to change your implants soon or not for another few years is best made by your plastic surgeon or any plastic surgeon.

All the best,

Rosa
