Hi, my EENT doctor recently diagnosed me that I have vertigo. An Xray of my cervical spine was also taken and showed that I have spondylosis. I understand that it is a form of neck arthritis. Is this somehow causing my vertigo? What are the natural treatments of my case? Thank you.

Hi Anon,
Thank you for your post.
Vertigo is a feeling that your surroundings are moving when in fact they're not. It occurs when there is conflict between the signals sent to the brain by various balance- and position-sensing systems of the body.
Common causes of vertigo include:
Inner ear disorders, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Ménière's disease, vestibular neuritis, or labyrinthitis.
Injury to the ear or head.
Migraine headaches, which are painful, debilitating headaches that often occur with vertigo, nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, noise, and smell.
Decreased blood flow through the arteries that supply blood to the base of the brain (vertebrobasilar insufficiency).
Symptoms of Spondylosis include:
A stiff, painful neck
Shoulder, arm or chest pain
Tingling and pinprick sensations in your arms, hands, legs or feet
Numbness and weakness in your arms, hands, legs or feet
Lack of coordination
Difficulty walking
Abnormal reflexes
Loss of bladder or bowel control, or urinary or bowel retention
In your case, Spondylosis and Vertigo are unrelated. Next time you visit you doctor, it would be a good idea to ask what the possible causes are in your particular situation and take a list of any other questions you may have.
