I want to know how you can get it if it wasn't passed on through sex?

Hi Anon,

Thank you for your question. Trichomonas vaginalis is spread through sexual contact with an infected partner. This include penis-to-vagina intercourse or vulva-to-vulva contact. There is no other way of spreading the infection.

Trichomoniasis is usually treated successfully with antibiotics. It is easily passed back and forth between sexual partners, so both should be treated, even if only one has symptoms.

Hope this helps,
