Hi Im 20 years old, I started my period on 08/04/09 my cycle always runs a pattern of 25 24 23 religously and the last one was a 25 day cycle my possible ovulation days were 08/11/09 - 08/21/09 according to www.americanpregnancyassoiciates.com. This web site has been very reliable with helping me caculate and learn my cycle I get all my possible menstrual dates from there and it always predicts correctly. The thing is I've been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend each day of expected ovulation. I know I may not be pregnant or maybe Iam ! Just wanted some extra voices to give there opinion. My next expected menstrual period is not due till 08/29/09 which will make the mark of a 24 day cycle. Yet I've been feeling funny ever since 08/16/09 like my period is coming I had sore tender nipples that subsided shortly after 3 days but its these irritating twinges and stabs some where inside I guess the lower abdominal area and contractions in the cervix. My uterus linings feels like period time but it felt like that for two intire weeks this is nothing that happens to me regularly if it does happen it happens 2 days before my expected period. How could I forget my lower achey back OMG soooooooo painful at times but never a brake from the lower back :(. All these symptoms are period symtptoms but happening too early.

I'm curious---if you aren't trying to conceive, why are you purposefully having unprotected sex during the time you expect you are ovulating?

Well actually I did not do it on purpose if thats the way I made it sound. Im just sexually active with my paretner. Its a once a day thing not 2-3 times a day. yes I know it happens sometimes around ovulating time. We would like to have kids one day but are not tyring, just being in a relationship that includes sex. Hell, sometime it cross my mind that I may never have kids even if I tried. But like people tell me never say never. If I did have kids Im perfectly fine with that because Im comfortable with my lifestyle. Kids are everywhere I look in my family LOL. Believe you me if I wanted to become pregnant this would be in a intire different topic. Its just that I find my body completely interesting and theres nothing wrong with that. Im a answer seeker so yeah I read articles but its not the articles changing my menstrual no mind over matter situation. If I think I need an answer I look it up even if I get answer from the doctor because if your not sure you should always get an second opinion. so I did. Oh and you taught me something I wasnt sure on and that was the whole ovulation process 10-14 days after know I better understand why my chances are slim. Yet I will keep in mind that your no doubt telling me of the on average so there is no sure ovulation when things vary woman to woman. No I did not get that from reading I have female friends ,sisters, aunts, cousins. Hell my sister got pregnant while on the birth control shot.

I meant to ask: how long have you been trying to conceive? Did you know that for most women, they "only" have a 20% chance of conception with each cycle?

Hi,
It sounds like you are trying to become pregnant, since you are having unprotected sex on the days of your expected ovulation...is this correct?

It is unlikely that the symptoms you are experiencing are pregnancy-related, although that does not mean that you are/are not pregnant.

If you are expecting your period on August 29th, and have been feeling symptoms of: sore nipples, abdominal twinges, contractions in your uterus, thicker uterine lining (which you can't feel, but I'm assuming you just feel the bloated feeling?), and lower back aches...some of these are hormone-related, and some may be from reading too many online symptoms! I'm sorry to say that, but many of us have been in your same boat...we are wanting to be pregnant and are reading EVERY possible sign or symptom and actually begin to physically feel the symptoms we read about. Medical students also have this experience, as they learn about new diseases. The feeling of contractions...do you mean cramping? Have you been pregnant before? If you are feeling actual uterine contractions, you would need to call your doctor.

The reason these symptoms you are experiencing are not pregnancy-related...they are occurring at the time you are ovulating, and you are not even pregnant at that time. It takes 10-14 days to actually become "pregnant", as it takes this long for the egg to be released, then fertilized, then the fertilized egg travels down the fallopian tube, then implants itself in the uterus, to then signal the release of "pregnancy hormones"....it takes the egg quite a while through all of this journey, and is the reason that you would not have any symptoms of pregnancy until 10-14 days after ovulation...as you are technically not pregnant until implantation. This is also the reason home pregnancy tests "don't work" until 10-14 days after ovulation...about the time of a missed period...because you are not pregnant until the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterus, and the tests can detect the pregnancy hormones at this time.

Really, the first sign of pregnancy for most women is a missed period. Some women do experience sore breasts, complexion issues (acne), lower back ache, cramping, moodiness...and these are all the same symptoms of an upcoming period, which are indistinguishable until after-the-fact (either you do or don't have a period). The similarities in symptoms makes sense, since they are both hormone-related.

One other question for you: your LMP was August 4th, and your next expected period is August 29th, which makes this 25-day cycle, and not a 24-day cycle. Not that this matters at all, but you seem to have a body that works like clock-work, and just wanted to make sure your dates are correct. If "Day 1" of your last menstrual period (LMP) was August 4th, then counting each day to August 28th is 25 days. August 29th (your next expected period) would start over and counted with "Day 1".

I get exactly what your sayiny I use the last cycle to caculate the next. From 07/12/09 which was the first day of my menstrual of last month to 08/03/09 counts the 23 days of my period for that month when 08/04/09 came it starts a new cycle for me which was when my period came on that day. So from that day 08/04/09 - 08/28/09 counts and makes the cycle 25 days . On 08/29/09 will mark the first day of my new cycle which will end on 09/21/09 will be a 24 day cycle.

07/12/09 was 23
08/04/09 will be 25
08/29/09 wil be 24
Im sorry I just said what you said, silly me not payin attention.
