Hi, I have a very big problem which really scares and I don't know what to do about this. Few days ago I went to the emergency room because I've been feeling light headed and dehydrated. I've had dehydration problem since childhood and I have thyroid problem which is the cause of my dehydration. No matter how much water I drink it's not good enough. The main problem of mine now is this light headed feeling I get and sometimes I get the feeling of faint. When I was at the emergency room they gave me IV fluids which I felt much better but I still have the same issue and they even did blood test and told me my oxygen content is low. Which is why I'm feeling like this. They didn't give me solution for this and I don't know which doctor would know more about this. I want to know which doctor I can see for this and meanwhile feeling like this is there anything I can take or do? Please let me know about this soon.
Thanks,
Melissa

You would need to see an Endocrinologist for the thyroid issue.

Having anemia is a condition where the red blood cells or hemoglobin is less than normal.  This prohibits normal oxygen circulation in the body.

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

I suggest that you first address your thyroid issue.  You may need hormonal therapy if you thyroid is not functioning properly.  Also anemia can cause light headedness, so you may want to check you iron levels.

There are some medication/yoga practices that teach proper breathing exercises.  You want to check out the sources in your area for that.

Hi, Having low oxygen levels does it mean it's because of having anemia and low iron levels as you're saying? I actually have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Which doctor do you think would be able to help solve my low oxygen levels? I don't feel right wasting time on this and I'm not sure who would be the right doctor to see this for. Please let me know soon.
Thanks,
Melissa
