I dont cramp while I am bleeding, but I do for a few days before and after each time I start. This last one the blood was a dark rusty color and was real heavy flowing.

Hi Hday,

Every now and again we have an odd period that leaves us thinking "what was that?" If it only happens once and then your following periods are normal again. Then this is no big deal. Dark Rusty looking blood is usually indicative of old blood--this can sometimes happen when blood pools and doesn't come down when it should.

You should be concerned if your periods last longer than 7 days straight with a heavy flow that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon, if you completely skip a period for three months straight, or if you experience multiple periods throughout the month regularly. Keep an eye on it but like I said, if this was an isolated incident don't stress out over it too much.

Best Wishes,

Rosa
