Pain is sudden and sharp, if I am up and about it comes and goes, but I have also been experiencing this pain at night when I go to bed. In this case is constant (feels like a sharp runners cramp) pain between bottom of rib cage and top of hip bone.

Hi,
The area of your pain, bottom of your rib cage to the top of your hip bone, covers a wide area of your abdomen. The spleen, stomach and colon are located in this abdominal area. Make an appointment with your physician. With a physical examination and any necessary diagnostic testing, such as an ultrasound or CT scan, your doctor can diagnose the cause of your pain.
