I have been having lower left abdominal pain for two days now. Most of the time it is a dull steady ache but sometimes I get a sudden short Sharp pain that almost doubles me over! I finished my period two days ago. I'm not having any trouble with urine or bowels. There is also a full feeling in my lower middle area that's is not painful but is constant.

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Many things can be the cause of your abdominal pain. Here's are some of the causes:

  • Crohn's disease
  •

  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (high levels of ketones in the blood)
  •

  • Diverticulitis
  •

  • Injury
  •

  • Intestinal obstruction
  •

  • Intussusception (in children)
  •

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  •

  • Lead poisoning
  •

  • Mesenteric lymphadenitis (swollen lymph nodes in the folds of membrane that hold the abdominal organs in place)
  •

  • Pancreatitis (pancreas inflammation)
  •

  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) (infection of the female reproductive organs)
  •

  • Peritonitis (infection of the abdominal lining)
  •

  • Sickle cell anemia
  •

  • Strained or pulled abdominal muscle
  •

  • Thoracic aortic aneurysm
  •

  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Appendicitis
  • The only way to know what is causing this pain, is seeing your doctor and having imaging test done.

    Best,

    Daisy
