What is treatment? I take furosemide but I'm not always near a restroom. Is there something else I can do?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing.

Edema is not uncommon in Afib patients.

The diuretic you're on is effective but as you mentioned, it's important to be able to urinate at some stage soon after it has been taken.

Exercise and then elevation of the legs can help with edema, as can massage on the legs. Another idea is to wear compression socks; they can help. A low salt diet is recommended.

In terms of other possible medications, you will need to talk to your doctor about this.

Best,
Susan
