Q:

I missed 3 active pills of lo loestrin fe, the last day of week 2 and first 2 days of week 3 and started spotting. I took the 3 missed pills when I realized I missed them and continued taking them regularly. Could I be pregnant?

I started bleeding again on the last day (saturday) of week 3. We had unprotected sex on the Friday before I missed the first pill and again on the 3rd day (Monday) before I realized that I had missed 3 pills. I have been taking the pills everyday at my normal time since I took the 3 pill dose on Monday evening and I have 3 active blue and 2 active white pills left and have started to bleed again. I have been been feeling dizzy and lightheaded, the spotting is red but it is not a flow like my period. When can I take a pregnancy test (home or blood).

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. If you are worried about pregnancy, I would wait until you actually are into the sugar pills before trying a pregnancy test as it appears that you are having spot bleeding due to missing those pills. This is pretty common until you return to your normal schedule.

You always risk pregnancy every time you have sex, so is there a possibility? Sure, there is always that possibility. Try the pregnancy test as mentioned above and keep us posted.

Good luck,

Missie
